New Day (song series)

What happens when you have had a bad day?
What happens when your life changes in a moment- when you cannot return to the day before because you are a completely different person and what you know now cannot be reversed? Whether ending a relationship, losing a loved one, leaving a job, moving away, graduating college, or mourning the end of the carefree childhood we once loved but took for granted, our lives will change.

I wrote “New Day” over a dozen years ago.  When I reflect on my songs, especially those written so long ago, it brings me back to the time when I wrote it and the emotions rush over me.  The exciting thing is…I can see how those tough times in my life worked out.  I always like to write about the tough moments but then how God redeems them, and now I can see the blessings that followed.

I would never change one minute of my life for it has brought me to where I am right this moment and I couldn’t ask for anything different.  Each emotional heartache, each failure, each physical scar tells a story…my story.

So, tell your story.

Tell of what God has redeemed you from.  Tell of the lowly places you have been and how you have been rescued from that pit.  Maybe you are still there in that lowly place.  Know that you are loved and cherished and God does have a purpose for you and this may be the time He is refining you, molding you, changing you, and preparing you for a triumphant revival.

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6

We may never forget or “get over” what has challenged and made us turn a new direction.  But God makes promises He will NEVER break.

Like a sunflower waiting in the dark, anticipating the moment the sun will rise over the horizon, let our faces, as with the sunflower, be vigilant and fixed on our God and Redeemer who gives us LIFE.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23

A New Day
Becki J. Buescher

Another door closes behind me
And I wanna go back
I’ll try and try to not dwell on my past
For I can’t go back, no I can’t go back

I desire not to be forgotten
And its hard to move on, to let go
And know new treasures lie before me

And I know, And I know

It’s a new day,
I know my pain will wash away
For a new song is rising in my heart
A new day to cast my cares above
Faithfully go...Faithfully follow…For it’s new day

I press on through the valley driven
Rest on the hope supplied for me
Grab hold of the truth that I’ve been given
His peace will sustain me

Desert sands cannot hold me any longer,
the raging seas cannot submerged my life
For my soul is given new life

Abide (song series)

                            Come to Me,
all who are weary and heavy-laden,
and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

What does it mean to abide...to draw near…to live inseparable from someone or something?  I have found that just relying on God and resting in His perfect arms I am able to make it through whatever life throws at me.  I cannot do it alone.  I must abide in Him and He in me to survive.  I couldn’t fathom it any other way.  I pray that if any of you are in a state of brokenness or hopelessness, you will abide in the Father. He has the answers and holds our future.  He is our strength and joy and our comfort in times of trouble and in times of rest.

Abide in me, and I in you.

As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
I am the vine; you are the branches.       Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for

apart from Me you can do nothing.

If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.

If you abide in me, and  my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.
Abide in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.

These things I have spoken to you,
that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
John 15:4-11

Abide
Becki J. Buescher

Be still broken one
For your comfort has come
Just rest here a while
The rain will soon be gone

This will pass, I know
The sun will shine
Hold me close until
The light reaches my eyes

Abide (x3)

For all that is true
Is found in You
All that I need
In You I see

Come weak and heavy laden
I will give you rest (2x)

Hymn of Hallelujah (song series)

If you cannot tell by now from my earlier posts…I love hymns. I love their harmonies. I love the truth they carry.  If you asked me about that while growing up I would respond with a snide remark about being for "old people and an organ."  I was raised in church that used hymns almost exclusively during our worship time so I was exposed to many.  It wasn’t until college that I started to look deeper and saw hymns in whole new light.  I fell in love with them and the depth held within their verses.  No other praise song could seem to hit that profoundness that a good hymn could.  I always strive in my writing to make a simple sentence be so insightful that you would have to stop and focus on the words to get the depth of its meaning.  I can’t say that I have accomplished such a great task but that is always my underlying aim while composing. This song was written with a hymn mentality in mind…hence the title…It may never come close to comparing to the greats but is my attempt to tap into that deep well of complexity (and simplicity) that are held in those traditional songs.

Hymn of Hallelujah
Becki J Buescher

Oh downcast soul, no longer find
My focus be on what is mine
I’ve been redeemed, restored by grace
Fitted for a greater place

Hallelujah, my Redeemer
Hallelujah, we proclaim
Our God is faithful and sure to answer
When we call upon His name!

Defeat none ponder, for victory shown
The King of Glory on the throne
Our Lord has ris’n, defeated death
To give us newness, life and breath

Cast all your trouble on He who’s strong
To carry burdens held for so long
He washes clean the life of sin
Reveals a gleaming heart within

Closer (song series)

Sometimes I can’t find the words.  Sometimes I am in a desperate state.  Sometimes I just don’t understand.  Every time I am in need of a Savior.

When I feel so distant, aching to feel close, aching for comfort, I just cry out to God. I ask for that assurance that everything will work out – that life is not falling apart –that I am not falling apart. I cannot ignore that deep undeniable need to be close to my Savior.  Like a little child who clings tightly to his mother, if only just to feel that physical warmth of certainty - to know that someone is in more control than they are. A yearning to know that refreshing assurance that someone is looking out for me and knows me better than I know myself.  I am not alone. I am His, so I can just rest.

Rest

Be still

Cling tight

And KNOW who holds us together

Closer
Beck J. Buescher

When will I see
When will I know
When will I be closer to You

I need you here
Ready to draw near
Ready to feel closer to you

You know every anxious thought
And how I feel when I fall away

Meet me here
Lord, I am waiting
Pull me in and tell me
It will be ok
