“Let us strive to know the Lord.
His appearance is as sure
as the dawn.
He will come to us like the rain,
like the spring showers that
water the land.”
Hosea 6:3
Springtime
is a time of new growth and revival after a long and cold winter. We anticipate
the spring showers that rejuvenate the soil and lure the hidden buds to emerge
from within the ground. What a joy when
the heavens open and release not a sprinkle but a downpour upon us. How refreshing and life giving it is
especially when we are in a dry and brittle state.
I
love to picture God's provision and love like that kind of rain…not a little sparse watering…but an abundance and complete saturation of the soul. Oh to rest and rejoice in that kind of drenching!
God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’
Job 37:5-6
But
we know that there are those times of trusting between the rains…when we wait...when we face trials...when
we fervently pray for His reply and sit in a desert and prepare. He will
answer. He promises He will provide in the proper time.
There
are those moments when your child is sick, when your loved one is in the
hospital, when you are waiting to hear if you got the job, when your next
paycheck can’t come soon enough, when you feel alone, or when you are completely
overwhelmed and you need a rescue. We find we wait often for answers, for
renewal, for healing, for desire. We wait for rain and cry out for that which
it brings – new life.
“If you carefully obey my
commands I am giving you today, to love the Lord your God and worship Him with
all your heart and all your soul, I will provide rain for your land in the
proper time, the autumn and spring rains, and you will harvest your grain, new
wine, and oil
Between the rains

Sweet Savior
In You I'm satisfied
Sovereign Glory
We await our morning joy
You pave the way
And hold each day
What a privilege
to trust in You
Between the rains
I rest in You
Patient for what You will do
Though dry and frail, prepare my heart
For Your flood to rush through
Known by You
You see my heart
And hold me close
For You love me so
Pour down Your grace
Saturate my soul
No other place
I would rather go
I would rather go
Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus
And to take Him at His Word
Just to rest upon his promise
And to know "Thus saith the Lord"
