If you cannot tell by now from my earlier posts…I love
hymns. I love their harmonies. I love the truth they carry. If you asked me about that while growing up I
would respond with a snide remark about being for "old people and an organ." I was raised in church that used hymns almost
exclusively during our worship time so I was exposed to many. It wasn’t until college that I started to
look deeper and saw hymns in whole new light.
I fell in love with them and the depth held within their verses. No other praise song could seem to hit that
profoundness that a good hymn could. I
always strive in my writing to make a simple sentence be so insightful that you
would have to stop and focus on the words to get the depth of its meaning. I can’t say that I have accomplished such a
great task but that is always my underlying aim while composing. This song was
written with a hymn mentality in mind…hence the title…It may never come close
to comparing to the greats but is my attempt to tap into that deep well of complexity
(and simplicity) that are held in those traditional songs.
Hymn of Hallelujah
Becki
J Buescher
Oh
downcast soul, no longer find
My
focus be on what is mine
I’ve
been redeemed, restored by grace
Fitted
for a greater place
Hallelujah, my Redeemer
Hallelujah, we proclaim
Our God is faithful and sure
to answer
When we call upon His name!
Defeat
none ponder, for victory shown
The King of Glory on the throne
Our
Lord has ris’n, defeated death
To
give us newness, life and breath
Cast
all your trouble on He who’s strong
To
carry burdens held for so long
He
washes clean the life of sin
Reveals
a gleaming heart within
This song gave me goose bumps!!! Love it!
